Sun Damage

Summertime has officially come to an end and the long days spent outdoors soaking up the sunshine have become long nights spent indoors curled up by the fire. Some of you may be packing your bags heading down to Florida and others may notice in the fireplace reflection: what in the world has happened to my skin?!

All those dark spots and hyperpigmentation are not signs of the winter blues, but rather are the unfortunate consequences of all the sun exposure you got during the summer months. These also become more noticeable as you age in addition to the unprotected sun exposure you may have accumulated over the years. Luckily, we have some advice for you to correct the sun damage and prevent it from now on.

Prevention:

The best advice I can possibly give you is to prevent as much skin damage as possible! Seek shade, especially at peak hours between ten in the morning until four in the afternoon when the sun’s rays are the strongest. Wear protective clothing, such as a brimmed hat to provide shade to your face and, most importantly, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF of 15 or higher! A sunscreen for your face with SPF, such as the ZO Skin Health Suncreen + Primer SPF 30 can protect your face from UVA rays, UVB rays, and HEV light and prevent those pesky dark spots and hyperpigmentation. It is a non-greasy, ultra-luxurious sunscreen that has a sheer matte finish that can be worn alone with its universal tint or under makeup for a long-lasting application, since it is a primer as well. This product has a twelve hour time release antioxidant complex that guards against photo damage and helps to smooth the skin while diminishing the appearance of fine lines! A product like this will surely make protecting your skin easy throughout the year.

Treatment:

So the damage is done and you’re looking for a way to correct it? I have the perfect treatment for you! Automated microneedling can treat and rid the face, neck, and decollatage of fine lines and acne scars, as well as improve the skin’s texture, tone, and colour. Microneedling at the Brampton Cosmetic MD clinic with Dr. Anjalee Gupta is done with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), which can be compared to the famous “Vampire Facial” or it can also be done with Hyaluronic Acid, depending on your skin goals. It’s affordable, effective, minimal downtime, minimal discomfort, safe for most skin types, and results in natural, smooth, corrected skin! That hyperpigmentation and those dark spots that you’ve accumulated all summer can now be treated and you can watch them disappear in as little as three to four treatments.

Now that we’ve given you how to prevent, protect, and correct your skin, it’s up to you to give us a call and get started on treating the skin you’re in with the love and care it truly deserves!
